The Associated
Businesses of the Cultural
District
is a not-for-profit
business association, dedicated to the
improvement of the Cultural District and the
economic health of its members. Founded in
1991, the membership ranges from individuals
with an interest in the area, to major
corporations and cultural institutions
ABCD strives to work with the City and
other governing bodies, with developers, with
owners of businesses and with residents to
keep our district vibrant and healthy and to
keep lines of communication open.
ABCD is
designated by the City of Fort Worth as a
Neighborhood Redevelopment Organization whose
boundaries extend from Henderson and the
Trinity River on the east to
Margaret/Owasso/Dorothy/Haskel/Bailey on the
west.
We were instrumental in the formation of
the NEZ (Neighborhood Empowerment Zone) and
Urban Villages in the District. We keep
abreast of transportation issues affecting
the area and actively support the
introduction of streetcar and light rail to
join our district with other areas of the
City. We monitor urban design, zoning, and
other governmental issues that may be of
import to our members. We are concerned with
maintaining a safe environment for our
businesses and residents and making our
district the best that it can
be.
Membership meetings, with light
refreshments and a program on a timely topic,
are usually held on the third Tuesday of each
month, 5:30pm-7:00pm.
